Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don’t know how many people are coming to my party?

In order to make your experience as seamless as possible, we do require that you know the exact number of people attending your party upon booking.

How far in advance do I need to book an Off Duty Chef?

This depends on the season, the chef, and the type of party you’re hosting. However, as a general rule of thumb, we recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance (and are happy to book much farther in advance than that!).

What if I want to have a sit-on-the-floor sushi party / costume dinner / other super-specific event?

The beauty of Off Duty Chef is that you get to throw whatever kind of dinner party you want! You get to browse chef profiles and choose the one whose profile looks like the best fit for your party.

I have a gluten / dairy / nut allergy or am vegetarian / vegan etc.

Chefs can accommodate both natural food diets (macrobiotic, vegan, paleo, etc.) and food allergies.

All of the ingredients used for your dinner party are fresh, purchased for your event, and cooked with the best condiments and spices. You can also specify that you’d like organic and local ingredients when you book your service.

Do you offer personal chef services on a recurring basis instead of a one-time event?

Our chefs are happy to create meals on any schedule you choose. We invite you to speak with an Off Duty Chef Concierge for more information!

I’d like to have a custom menu created for the party I have in mind. How do I choose a chef?

Click here to chat with an Off Duty Chef Concierge so we can make the perfect chef match for you. That perfect-for-you chef will e-mail you to set up a time to chat and he or she will create a custom menu at no cost or obligation to you.

Once you and the chef are in agreement, the concierge will create a custom booking and invoice for your event and you are all set! Ready to book now?

What if I have to cancel entirely or a guest cancels?

Ask your concierge about Off Duty Chef, Inc. Terms & Conditions. They help make sure that you understand your obligations and the chef’s obligations based on how many days prior to the event the changes take place. Or read the scintillating Terms and Conditions section here.

What if a chef doesn’t show up for some reason?

In the unlikely event that the chef is a ‘no show’ for any reason, Off Duty Chef, Inc. will find a comparable chef who will execute the menu upon your approval or Off Duty Chef, Inc. will refund your full event cost, whichever you choose.

Where is Off Duty Chef available?

Off Duty Chef is available in New York City, Long Island and The Hamptons. We will be expanding service to other locations. Outside of our current service area? Leave a note here and we will keep you posted when chefs are available to come to you!
